OWL KILL was formed in late 2014 by lead singer, Pat Byrnes, and guitar player, Greg Amato. They were soon joined by bass player, Fabricio “Breeze” Barreto, and drummer, Mike Gelvan. The band got their name because all of the members are from Montville, NJ, which in the 1800s was known as “Owl-Kill”. Their music is influenced by a diverse range of bands, such as Taking Back Sunday, My Chemical Romance, Brand New, Guns N’ Roses, Led Zeppelin, The Used and many others. Combining all of these influences with Pat’s strong lyrics and Greg’s powerful guitar riffs, Owl Kill has put their own spin on the Rock genre. In an interview with The Aquarian Weekly, Pat said, “We want to get up close and personal and hopefully invoke a new energy in people that they haven’t felt before.” The desire to connect with people on a personal and emotional level is what drives Owl Kill to create the music that they do.

The band currently has two self-released EPs. In late 2015, Owl Kill released their first EP, Self Management. It consisted of 5 songs, including the single, “Sell Me”, which the band released a music video for in May of 2016. Their second EP, Home., was released in March of 2016. The band is currently busy playing shows all over New Jersey while constantly working on new music. The band’s dedication and talent was recently recognized when they won the “Ernie Ball PLAY Warped” competition. As a result, they got to play main stage at the 2016 Vans Warped Tour in Holmdel, NJ. The band has also performed at many other notable venues, like The Stone Pony, The Bitter End, The Saint, Crossroads, Mexicali Live, Dingbatz, and so on. Currently, the band’s primary focus is to play as many shows as possible so that they can connect with as many new fans as possible.

Owl Kill’s powerful music and electric performances set them apart from the rest of the rock scene. Rachael Ciccone from The Aquarian Weekly said, “It won’t be long before they get signed to a record label, and if you listen to them now, you’ll be able to brag that you heard of them first before their imminent ascent in the music industry.” The band has many goals still in their sights and will not be slowing down anytime soon.
